Transparent Plastic AS/SAN Material for Heat and Chemical Resistant Packaging

Acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer (AS/SAN) is a polymer composed of acrylonitrile and styrene, typically containing 15-50% styrene. This material is a transparent solid with a yellow to amber needle color and a density of 1.06. It is thermoplastic and resistant to color change. AS/SAN is unaffected by dilute acids, bases, alcohols, and gasoline but is soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, and dichloroethylene. It is widely used as an engineering plastic due to its excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance.

AS/SAN is commonly used in the production of oil-resistant machinery parts, instrument cases, instrument panels, battery cases, tractor oil tanks, packing containers, and daily necessities. It can also be spun into a single filament but is primarily used as an admixture to produce ABS resin.

Key properties of AS/SAN include a specific gravity of 1.07, molding shrinkage of 0.2-0.6%, and a melt flow rate of 2.5 g/10min at 200°C/5kg. It exhibits a tensile strength of 740 kg/cm², tensile elongation of 6%, and a tensile modulus of 37,500 kg/cm². The material also has a flexural strength of 1,230 kg/cm² and a flexural modulus of 37,500 kg/cm². Its IZOD impact strength is 1 kg·cm/cm at 23°C, and it has a Rockwell hardness of 123 on the R-scale.

Thermal properties include a heat deflection temperature of 90°C at 18.6 kg and a Vicat softening temperature of 100°C. The material is classified as HB under UL94 flammability standards for both 1.5mm and 3.0mm thicknesses. Its relative temperature index for electrical and mechanical applications is also noteworthy.

AS/SAN is certified for various applications and is available in different packaging options, including 25kg fiber drums and smaller aluminum foil bags. Customization of material properties is possible based on customer requirements, and all products undergo strict quality testing before shipment.
